Legacies premiered on The CW on October 25, 2018. It ran four seasons and 68 episodes, ending June 16, 2022.
Julie Plec created the series. It is a spin-off of The Originals and part of The Vampire Diaries universe.
The story is set at the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, a secret school for vampires, witches and werewolves.
Julie Plec called the show her love letter to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Harry Potter.
Danielle Rose Russell first played teenage Hope in the fifth and final season of The Originals, then carried the role into Legacies.
Matthew Davis brought Alaric Saltzman over from The Vampire Diaries. Here he runs the school and raises twins Lizzie and Josie.
Mystic Falls was filmed in Covington, Georgia, east of Atlanta — the same town square as in The Vampire Diaries.
Steven R. McQueen returned as Jeremy Gilbert in the third episode, which aired November 8, 2018.
The pandemic cut season 2 to 16 of the 20 planned episodes. Season 3 premiered on January 21, 2021.
Season 3's Salvatore: The Musical! had six original songs, all sung by the cast.
In season 4 Hope finally became a full tribrid: part witch, part werewolf, part vampire.
The CW announced the cancellation on May 12, 2022, a month before the finale, Just Don't Be a Stranger, Okay?
