“Diamond of the Season”
Candlelight and whispered names,
Read the lyrics
Candlelight and whispered names,
a season turning, hearts in flames.
I walked in quiet, I'll leave in gold,
the sweetest story never told.
Every eye, every glance,
one long look, one last chance,
I'm the diamond of the season,
watch me shine, I don't need a reason,
lit like fire in the ballroom light,
darling, I was born for tonight.
Oh-oh, diamond of the season,
love me loud or leave me grievin',
I'll burn bright till the morning comes,
darling, I was born for tonight.
Silk and secrets, a hidden pen,
the ton is watching, here we go again.
They'll write my name in ink and lace,
but no one else can take my place.
Every eye, every glance,
one long look, one last chance,
I'm the diamond of the season,
watch me shine, I don't need a reason,
lit like fire in the ballroom light,
darling, I was born for tonight.
Oh-oh, diamond of the season,
love me loud or leave me grievin',
I'll burn bright till the morning comes,
darling, I was born for tonight.
Let them talk, let them stare,
I've got roses in my hair.
One dance left and the strings will swell,
this is the tale that I'll live to tell.
I'm the diamond of the season,
watch me shine, I don't need a reason,
lit like fire in the ballroom light,
darling, I was born for tonight.
Oh-oh, diamond of the season,
love me loud or leave me grievin',
I'll burn bright till the morning comes,
darling, I was born for tonight.

Bridgerton premiered on Netflix on December 25, 2020 — the first series out of Shonda Rhimes' Shondaland production deal, created and showrun by Chris Van Dusen.
The show is based on Julia Quinn's eight-book Bridgerton novel series (2000-2006); each book follows a different sibling's own romance.
The eight Bridgerton siblings are named alphabetically, oldest to youngest: Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, Hyacinth.
Season 2 (2022) became Netflix's most-watched English-language series ever at the time, with more than 627 million hours viewed.
Lady Whistledown's narration is voiced by Julie Andrews. She recorded every session remotely over Zoom and has never appeared on set.
Costume designer Ellen Mirojnick color-coded the families: the Bridgertons wear refined 'Bridgerton blue,' while the Featheringtons wear loud citrus yellow and green.
'Diamond of the First Water' is the Queen's title for the single most exceptional debutante of the season — the inspiration for this song's title.
Filming used real English estates: Castle Howard (Clyvedon Castle exterior), Wilton House (the Queen's throne room), Badminton House, and Ranger's House in Greenwich (the Bridgerton townhouse).
The soundtrack's string-quartet covers of pop hits, like Ariana Grande's 'thank u, next' and Miley Cyrus' 'Wrecking Ball,' sent streams of those classical arrangements soaring.
Regé-Jean Page left after season 1 by his own choice. He'd signed on for one season and turned down a paid guest-star return as Simon.
Prequel spin-off 'Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story' premiered May 4, 2023, with Adjoa Andoh and Ruth Gemmell reprising their roles.
Season 3 (2024) told Penelope and Colin's 'Polin' romance, released in two four-episode parts: May 16 and June 13.
